Lareina graduated from the National University of Singapore with joint honours in English and Literature. She has taught in both Junior College and government schools, and taken translation courses in NUS. Her interests are in second language acquisition of English, bilingualism and translation, and literature relating to memory and identity. Lareina also graduated from the University of York with Masters in Teaching English to Young Learners.
